Over the Christmas break, we were able to pull of a Semi-Surprise Birthday party for my Aunt Vera, who will turn 80 in March. Because she lives in Southern California, we took it upon ourselves to get all those faithful Shippen relatives (those that didn't have been written off) to come to a party for Aunt Vera.
My brother Paul made a Huge cake that would have fed a hundred people and we had soup, and treats. Lots of work was put in by my wife who worked herself to the bone.
It was a huge success and very fun to see everyone during the holidays. Aunt Vera really enjoyed it and despite her telling us we didn't need to bother, was pleased by those that made the effort. We ended up counting over 50 Utah relatives that came. Thanks to everyone for making the effort.
