Hong Kong Day 2

What a great night sleep we had last night. It was nice to get into bed after flying all day and night. We decided we would sleep in and wake up when we were ready. For me that came at around 7:00 AM but we both layed there and slept until around 9:00 AM

We decided we would go and find something for Breakfast and then just explore. We ate breakfast at the Hotel that we are staying at. Very overpriced. It cost us 375 HKG or about $45 USD.

It was a buffet and you could get what you wanted. We each had an Omelete and then I tried some Dim Sum, a pancake, a triangle potatoe crisp (looked and tasted like the ones from McDonalds). On a scale of 1-10, I would give it about a 4. Especially for what we paid.

After breakfast, we went to the Avenue of the Stars along the Hong Kong Harbor. Not many people were out yet but it was nice to walk along and get our feet under us. We wandered over by the Star ferry. There were these little kids all getting ready for something, they were standing around playing their violins. Later we heard that Yo Yo Ma is in town and is playing tonight. Perhaps they had something to do with that.

We then wandered up Nathan Road to Temple St. Along the way, we stopped at the Kowloon Park and saw a bunch of fish, birds, some turtles, and just a plain peaceful place in the middle of Chaoas. Look close at the Log for the Turtles. There were also this couple that were using swords to dance with. Not sure of the story but it was interesting to see.

We then continued on to the sit of the Temple St. MarketThis is the site of one of the big markets. Nothing really to look at though. We wandered thru and decided after about an hour to head back to the Hotel. On the way back, we were stopped (This was about the 15th time) by an Indian (being from India) fellow trying to get me to buy a suit. Stacey was interested in a Coat so off we went into his back alley shop to look at fabric. The Coat was a little more than she wanted to spend but you choose the material, style, cut and he whips it up for you. Truely custom. I decided to see about some shirts. I ended up buying 7 shirts for about $200. I go back on Monday for a fitting and then if it is good, he will whip up the rest. We will see if it is a good deal or not. Stacey decided to buy some pants so she will get to try them as well. Still trying to decide on the coat though.

We did see this UPS Truck and there is some really cool UPS advertising on the buses. I will get a picture next time I see one.

We came back in the afternoon (about 2:00 PM) and rested and slept until around 4:00. Then it was time to go find some dinner and head back to the Night Market.

We walked and looked and looked and walked trying to find something that looked like it would work. We ended up at an English Pub for Dinner. It was OK. I had a Hamburger and Stacey had a Turkey sandwich. Tasted like it would if you went to a Chinese Restaurant and had them make you one. Anyway, we then caught the Subway up the the Night Market. It was very different than the other places we had seen today. Lots of trinkets and trash and some unique things. We even picked up a couple of things for the kids.

After all this, it now after 9:00 PM and we are both bushed. We walked and walked until we found the subway and got back to our hotel.

We met the LDS Mission President and his wife while we were eating dinner tonight and they gave us directions to Church tomorrow. Should be fun. Love you all.
